Joan Smith

Joan Smith has been chosen to facilitate the maternity home using knowledge gained from creating two similar residential programs in Indiana. Joan is the founder and served as the Executive Director for both St. Elizabeth's Maternity Center in New Albany, Indiana and Noah's Ark Childrens Village in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Joan is a Registered Nurse and has worked in both Labor/Delivery and the Emergency Room. Events experienced there, and her strong belief in the value of life and the value of our children, drew her to address the suffering that she witnessed in families.

She has a long history of giving back to the community. As Executive Director of St. Elizabeth's, Joan took that program to national acclaim. She has spoken on two occasions before U.S. Subcommittees concerning the importance of community and government partnerships in nonprofit arenas. In addition, she served on the Senate Subcommittee on Families and Children for the U.S. Senate Project of American Renewal. Joan has received many awards for her work including:

Joan is a graduate of Louisville Leadership Network and she and her husband are members of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
