The Need
Prior to 1973 when abortion became legal, there were four maternity homes operating in Louisville, KY. They included the Salvation Army Home, Our Lady's Home, Volunteers of America and one operated by the Baptist church. With the legalization of abortion, these facilities were closed.
This year, it is estimated that in one downtown Louisville clinic alone, over 4,000 babies will be aborted. Though much effort is being made by those in the pro-life movement there continues to be a hole in the continuum of services, and what is being done is not enough.
"Death is a very clear and present danger for unborn children in our culture. The womb, by nature the safest place in the world, has become the most dangerous and lethal place. One out of every three persons who enter it leave it dead within nine months...If we can contribute even a little bit, even indirectly, to saving a few small and unseen human beings from death, then in these small ways we shall have made our lives very meaningful." Dr. Peter Kreeft, Three Approaches to Abortion
"Truly, truly, I assure you, whatever you do to one of the least of these, my littlest ones, you do to me."
Matthew 25:40
